TGNCK Founder’s Scholarship - currently paused
The Good News Community Kitchen (TGNCK) was established in 2015 by Army Veteran, Mercedes N. Kirkland-Doyle, to rebuild and strengthen communities by fighting hunger one meal at a time.
Mercedes, her brothers, and cousin spent their adolescent years in Columbia, SC under the care of their grandparents. During the years she lived with her grandparents, she learned of the importance of community involvement and the concept of a village. Throughout high school, Mercedes would be exposed to a range of professional women who would leave such an impact on her that she decided to “pay it forward”. Throughout her military and civil service career, she incorporated service to others within her lifestyle.
The Good News Community Kitchen Founder’s Scholarship is designed for students from single parent households or emancipated. While unconventional families are labeled or subjected to various generalizations and stereotypes, they often birth successful community leaders. This scholarship is designed to support the educational goals of such young leaders.
Your continued support will ensure access, exposure and opportunity are offered to all seeking assistance from us. Please consider donating towards our Founder’s Scholarship on our giving page or via check.
