Mobile Meals
Mobile Meal’s focus is to provide meals-ready-to-eat to the displaced underserved population throughout the area (i.e.: safe, public places for pick-up). Volunteers will be dressed in TGNCK community outreach t-shirts and distribute packaged meals at set “hub” locations on a weekly basis.
Effective April 1, 2024, our Virginia Mobile Meals program will only service families referred by our partnered Fairfax and Prince William County Schools.
Effective December 1, 2023, all Mobile Meals recipients will receive either a $25 e-gift card or a grocery pick-up order. TGNCK’s objective is to assist with access to food. It is the sole responsibility of the recipient to secure transportation for grocery pick-up and/or in-store use of all e-gift cards. Our protocol is final.
E-gift cards may be sent directly to your spam or junk email box. Your e-gift card will be transferred back to TGNCK if the audit identifies you have not opened or used your e-gift card within 30 calendar days. It is your responsibility to check both boxes and to keep current with your registered email account. We will not allow you to change your email address once an e-gift card has been issued.
Gift card vendors include but are not limited to: Safeway, Giant, Aldi, Food Lion, Jewel, and/or Mariano’s. It is at the discretion of TGNCK to identify which vendor will be used.
Effective June 1, 2020, All Mobile Meals volunteers are required to successfully complete the ServSafe Food Handler’s Course within their first 30 days on the team.
Meals 2 Go Kits
Our Meals 2 Go kits were specifically designed after visiting one of our community partner elementary schools. We observed a Guidance Counselor making meal bags in a hallway for school-aged children who identified food insecurity outside of school hours. We decided that we would assist, within our ability, to provide meal bags for the students in hopes of relinquishing the Guidance Counselor's time. Our kits consist of seven (7) items that are healthy, interchangeable, will last several days and only require water as an additive.
Each kit consists of: 1(cn) creamy peanut butter, 1(bx) flavored oatmeal, 2(cn) vegetable soup and 2(cn) Chefboyardee pasta (any flavor), 2(cn) vegetables and 2(cn) tuna fish.
During COVID-19, to assist households, we placed Snack Packs inside of each Meal Kit. A Snack Pack is a Ziploc bag that contains 4 to 5 pre-packaged snacks (ex: fruit snacks, granola bar, chips, or a Rice Krispie treat). Anyone can volunteer to pack Snack Packs and drop them off at the office.
TGNCK ONLY provides SERVICES for six (6) months to allow other households access to our services.
